Visit from ECH “Kelvin Grove” Residents
During the first week of March the Club enjoyed a visit from residents of an ECH Retirement Village – Kelvin Grove. They travelled by bus from the suburb of Lockleys. Their plan was to check out the garden and also find out what the men get up to in the Men’s Shed. They were most impressed on both counts! Many thanks to Bob Hacker for explaining the Shed activities – we had a hard time getting them out of there! Our guests sat down to morning tea before touring the garden. As they left, we presented them with a hamper of freshly picked produce.
This week we received a lovely letter from the coordinator of Kelvin Grove, thanking us for our hospitality. Here are a few quotes from the letter:
“Everyone enjoyed their morning tea & when we got to the Beach Café (for lunch) some of us were not as hungry – I did warn them that country hospitality & food would be of a high standard!”
“I originally thought we would wander over to the Men’s Shed and have a quick look around due to time restraints…but everyone was very interested in the projects & it took some time!”
And on the garden: “It was quite a surprise when we started looking at all the things you have growing. It’s a real credit to you! Thank you also for the large box of fruit & veggies you gave us.” In closing “one of the best trips we have gone on … definitely want to return”.
